Ambassador of the Republic of Romania at National Assembly

On October 13 the President of the National Assembly Mr. Tigran Torosyan received the Ambassador of the Republic of Romania Mr. Nicolae Iordache on the occasion of the end of his mission.

Mr. Tigran Torosyan expressed satisfaction concerning the cooperation with Mr. Iordache, which has contributed to the consolidation of inter-state and inter-parliamentary relations of two countries, but also regret that the mission of Mr. Iordache, during which he has greatly promoted the development of these relations, comes to the end.

Mr. Nicolae Iordache, who has worked in Armenia for three years, noted, that he leaves Armenia and the Armenians with difficulty, as during these years he has already managed to get to know our country and like it. Mr. Iordache also said that Armenia really belongs to the big European family, and that the experience and mistakes of Romania, as a country of Central Europe, can be useful in the process of integration to Europe. The Ambassador noted, that the South Caucasian region has а top-priority significance for his country, the evidence of which is the visit of the President of Romania, that made possible to get familiariazed with the issues and identify the ways of cooperation.

During the meeting the two parties stressed the importance of the establishment of regional peace and stability, which will make the European integration more efficient. The President of the National Assembly Mr. Tigran Torosyan touched upon the report on the draft Pact on Stability of South Caucasus presented by a Romanian MP, Mr. Adrian Severin at the PACE session. Mr. Tigran Torosyan highlighted the importance of the draft pact for the clarification of the relations and cooperation in the region, which will also make easier the settlement of conflicts even if the interests differ.

During the meeting other issues were also discussed.
