Address of Mr. Tigran Torosyan, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, on the Day of Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide Victims

During its centuries-old history the Armenian nation has experienced losses and cruel trials alongside with victories and successes. And only through the unity and demonstration of unbreakable will of our people it was possible to survive and overcome the challenges of time and destiny, including the Genocide organized and perpetrated by the Ottoman Turkey at the turn of the 20th century, which was an unprecedented event in human history.

The history has also proved that any nation can be protected from such crimes if an impregnable, powerful state, providing dignified life for its citizens has been created.

Bowing heads before the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide at the turn of the 20th century, we, their heirs, are obliged to build the Armenia they dreamt not only as a memorial, eternalizing memory of the victims, but also as a full pledge of our people’s safe and secure future.
