MPs are Proposed to Review the Anti-Constitutional Provisions

On December 3, the parliament voted to continue the work of the four -day sittings. The MPs adopted the agreements and legislative initiatives, as well as the proposal to the law on Referendum, debated the previous day.

During the third sitting of the National Assembly they also debated five international treaties, regulating the cooperation among the member countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. Mr. Ara Nazaryan, Deputy Minister of Defence, proposed to ratify the agreements on Collective Security Treaty Organization and the second record on Collective Security Treaty Organization. Mr. Garnik Badalyan, Deputy Minister of Trade and Economic Development, presented the agreement on cooperation among the member countries of the CSTO and Mr. Gegham Gharibjanyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, presented the record on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Agreement on Legal Status of the CSTO. Mr. Armen Rustamyan, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly, presenting the endorsement of the committee, remarked on their necessity, for making the cooperation more productive within the framework of CSTO. Mr. Hrayr Karapetyan, who was recently in Saint Petersburg, and participated in the council sitting of the CSTO, in his concluding speech touched upon the urgency, related to this matter. According to Mr. Hrayar Karapetyan, the ratification of the pointed agreement emerges from the interests of security and strategy of Armenia.

The MPS Mr. Rafik Petrosyan, Mr. Vardan Bostanjyan and Mr. Mkhitar Mnatsakanyan put in circulation the package on Making Amendments and Addenda to the RA Civil Judicial Code, on Making Amendments to the RA Criminal Judicial Code, on Making Amendment to the Law on Advocacy, on Making Amendment to the RA Judicial Code and on Making Amendment to the RA Administrative Judicial Code. The recommendation of Mr. Hovik Abrahamyan, President of the National Assembly, on creating a working group and the revision, by the decision of Constitutional court, of the positions, recognized anti-constitutional, were the basis for this initiation. The Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs of the National Assembly endorsed the package. In Parallel to the leading committee, the legislative package was also debated in the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs of the National Assembly. Mr. Davit Harutyunyan, Chairman of the Committee spoke on the results of the debates.

The debate will be concluded at December 4 sitting.


During the last sitting of December 3, according to the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly there were questions – answers between the MPs and the Government of the Republic of Armenia.
