On October 1, the delegation headed by the President of the Belgian Senate, Armand De Decker, met in the parliament with the representatives of the factions of the National Assembly.

Mr. Gagik Minasyan, member of the faction RPA, talking about the friendship of the two countries, expressed assurance that the visit would get new impetus for the development and strengthening of the relations of the two countries. Mr. Minasyan noted that the Euro integration is one of the priorities of foreign policy of Armenia. Touching upon the Armenian-Turkish relations, Mr. Minasyan stressed that in that complicated and difficult path of regulation of the relations, Armenia expects the promotion of European structures. In this context Ms. Heghine Bisharyan, Head of the RLP faction, observed the step of Armenian- Turkish settlement present stage very brave step within the history of independent Armenia, adding that the RLP faction praises and promotes the present policy of Mr. Serzh Sargsyan, President of the Republic of Armenia. Mr. Styopa Safaryan highlighted the importance of resolving the Armenian-Turkish issue without any preconditions, which, according to the deputy, is not fully displayed in the records signed between Armenia and Turkey.

The President of the Belgian Senate, Mr. Armand De Decker said that the Belgium Parliament is following with interest the Euro Integration process of Armenia, and according to his observations there are tangible amendments in Armenia.

Mr. Decker highly praised the role of the Armenian community in Belgium in the political, economic and cultural life of the country, which positively affects the development of the Armenian-Belgian relations. Referring to the Armenian-Turkish relations, Mr. Decker expressed hope that the Armenian-Turkish relations will be improved and proposed the promotion of Belgium in this issue. He reminded that 11 years ago, the Belgian Senate adopted a resolution on the Armenian Genocide; which considers necessary the recognition of genocide by Turkey.

The sides discussed issues, related to the development of bilateral relations, to the Armenian-Turkish relations and the settlement of the Karabakh problem.
