On January 27, the members of the RA NA delegation to PACE in Strasbourg Mr. David Harutyunyan, Ms. Naira Zohrabyan and RA permanent representative in the Council of Europe, Mr. Zohrab Mnatsakanyan met with the newly elected President of the PACE Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu . The meeting was held on the Armenian delegation's initiative.

At the beginning of the meeting, congratulating Mr. Çavuşoğlu on taking office of President of the PACE, the representatives of the Armenian delegation asked the president to give clarifications on his interview with the Azerbaijani APA agency.

The PACE President clarified the members of the delegation that the APA agency interpreted his words, as a result of which the meaning of what he had said was distorted. According to Mr. Çavuşoğlu, he did not say the word-combinations used in the interview, but he talked about the existing problems in the region, including relations between Russia and Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, Armenia and Turkey that should be settled through negotiations, and that the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process was within the format of the OSCE Minsk Group and that he believed that the PACE could play a supporting role in the resolution of all conflicts, especially the conflicts that relate to humanitarian issues.
