On June 2 the Speaker of RA National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan visited the destinations within the program Millennium Challenges Foundation-Armenia being in Aygezard, Avshar and Armash communities.

The new water system, which was built in Aygezard, has opportunity of irrigating more than 708 ha land plot. It will provide with irrigating water 11.364 beneficiaries residing in Banavan, Vedi, Aygezard, Nor Ughi communities. Water system drop also was invested in the mentioned communities by the Millennium Challenges Foundation-Armenia program. Hovik Abrahamyan got acquainted with the works of such system, which was placed in gardener Ashot Abrahamyan’s garden.

In Avshar RA National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan visited farmer Harutyun Hovhannisyan’s nursery, where within the framework of the Millennium Challenges Foundation-Armenia a new water system drop was invested. Hovik Abrahamyan walked around the territory of the nursery and got acquainted with the works done, the results of the program.

RA National Assembly Speaker also had in Armash pump station, which supplies 23 communities of Ararat Marz. By the support of the Millennium Challenges Foundation-Armenia program after the implemented repair it has been completely technically equipped, which gives opportunity to carry out water supply without disturbance.

After being acquainted with the works done in his talk with the journalists Hovik Abrahamyan considered important that 17 such pump stations will be repaired in Armenia. Regarding the Millennium Challenges Foundation-Armenia program, the RA NA Speaker noted: “I an standing in the sources of this program. This Millennium Challenges Foundation-Armenia program with the U.S. Government has been discussed when I was working in the Government. I have been in many communities, where there are problems of irrigation, drinking water. The program was a little delayed, partially reduced, but its important component is carried out: the repairing of the irrigation system, which is very important for the development of agriculture.”

Hovik Abrahamyan greeted the works of the U.S. Government and urged that in case of need the Millennium Challenges program will continue, taking into account its importance. “Together with the RA Government we also have similar programs of improving the water supply. I am sure that during the upcoming two years we’ll solve the problems connected with the irrigation, which exist in 10 marzes.”
