It has been 50 years the world celebrates the World Theatre Day. In Armenia it has been more than 10 years that Artavazd theatrical annual awarding ceremony is held, and the figures of the theatrical world are handed prizes.
On March 27 RA Ministry of Culture, the Theatrical Figures’ Union of Armenia held the next awarding ceremony, which this year also took place under the patronage of RA National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan. The attitude of RA NA Speaker to theatre, theatrical figures and in general, to the culture and cultural events has already become regularity, and it’s not by chance, as the Chairman of the Theatrical Figures’ Union Hakob Ghazanchyan noted that Hovik Abrahamyan is the only state official, who still in 1996 was awarded Artavazd prize for his caring attitude towards theatre.
The awarding ceremony gathered under one floor the young people still founding their place in the theatre and honourable representatives received prizes in different nominations. the Chairman of the Theatrical Figures’ Union Hakob Ghazanchyan, the Artistic Director of Hakob Paronian Musical Comedy State Theatre Yervand Ghazanchyan thanked the NA Speaker, who attended the event for his attitude being shown towards theatre, the Artistic Director of Hovhannes Abelian Drama Theatre Vahe Shaverdyan wished Hovik Abrahamyan to attend the awarding ceremony what post he assumes. In his words, if in the hard 90s Hovik Abrahamyan did not stand next to the theatre some performances would not been staged.
This year Artavazd awarding ceremony was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the talented actor Khoren Abrahamyan. A fragment from the film telling about him was shown, and apart from traditional prizes Khoren Abrahamyan main prize was defined, which was handed to Armen Marutyan by the great actor’s daughter and grandson. NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan’s word was Khoren Abrahamyan’s special assessment of his contribution in theatrical career. He urged the unions of theatrical figures and painters to apply the Mayor of Yerevan to have Khoren Abrahamyan’s monument in Yerevan next year, also promising his participation in it, as well as the National Assembly.
In his word, the Speaker of the National Assembly congratulated the theatrical figures and Artavazd award winners reminded that during the award ceremony last year he had noted that the population of the marzes should be made to actively take part in theatrical, and in general, cultural life. Once again congratulating on World Theatre Day he invited everybody to the cradle of the Armenian theatre Artashat on March 28 to celebrate the holiday of theatre this time in the marz.
