1 / 1

On January 24 Samvel Nikoyan, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, sent a letter to Jean-Pierre Bel, Speaker of the Senate of the Republic of France, on the occasion of the adoption of the bill criminalizing the genocide denial by the French Senate.

“Honourable Mr Speaker,

On January 23 by the adoption of the bill criminalizing the genocide denial the French Senate once again proved its adherence to all-human values, its high prestige of being motherland of human rights and defined by law that the crimes committed against humankind have no period of limitation, and only by condemning them it is possible to prevent new crimes against humankind.

Honourble Mr Speaker,

Let me address our word of gratitude in the name of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia to the members of the friendly French Senate, to all of them, who fight in order never to be committed such heinous crime against humanity, to all those, who consider impermissible the denial of genocides, to all those, who attach importance to justice and all-human values, ultimately, to all those, who seek for comprehensive peace, elimination of dividing lines and peoples’ reconciliation in the region.”
