Head of the NA RPA Faction Meets the Ambassador of Poland
1 / 1

On March 5 Galust Sahakyan, Head of the RPA faction of the National Assembly, met Zdzislaw Raczynski, Ambassador of Poland to the Republic of Armenia.

At the Ambassador’s request Mr Sahakyan touched upon the main directions of  the RA fourth convocation National Assembly activity. To his assessment, the legislative body should be one of the main factors of the stability of the country, and in this respect the current parliament has combined its forces to stand the economic and financial crises. On the one hand, an attempt has been made to improve the economy through legislative work, on the other hand, a need has been emerged to keep the country stable, without damaging the activeness of the political forces. During recent 5 years the parliament has cooperated with the executive power to call into life the programmes of economic development. The successes recorded in the inner and foreign policy of Armenia and the growth of the international authority of the country testify to the efficiency of that cooperation.

To the question how the ruling power assesses the role of the upcoming parliamentary elections in the further democratic developments and European Integration activation of Armenia, Galust Sahakyan has said that with regards to the democratic developments, the continuity of positive achievements of previous years will be greatly conditioned by the upcoming elections of the National Assembly. As a ruling political force they realize quite well that if shortcomings are recorded in the elections, then the big share of the responsibility will be laid on their political team. The Electoral Code has been improved for excluding the violations, which now gives an opportunity to all political forces to carry out control on the electoral processes.

Mr Sahakyan has informed the Ambassador that their party organizes teaching of the Electoral Code for the proxies and activists, understanding very well that the knowledge of the law will exclude or at least will reduce the violations.

Touching upon the proportional list of the party Mr Sahakyan has said that the party will show an approach of principle in this issue, including in the list people being able to be involved in the political and legislative activity, and the people well known to the society. Certain changes will also be made with respect to the women’s involvement.

“Our party realizes very well the role of the upcoming elections and the importance of holding them fairly, hence, it will welcome all the political forces, which will have wish to support the oversight of supporting the elections,” Galust Sahakyan said.

In the course of the meeting other issues relating to the economic-political perspective of Armenia were also discussed.
