On May 11 Eduard Sharmazanov, NA Deputy Speaker, Chairman of Armenia-Lithuania Parliamentary Friendship Group, had a telephone talk with Algis Kašēta, Chairman of Lithuania-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group.

Mr Sharmazanov thanked the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania in the name of the Lithuanian MPs that on May 10 the draft extremely pro-Azerbaijani resolution, entered in the agenda of the Seimas “On the Peaceful Settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh” had been refused as a result of voting.

In the NA Deputy Speaker’s word, with this step Lithuania once again has confirmed its balanced stance on the peaceful settlement of the NK conflict, showing that the deconstructive steps of Azerbaijan are in vain.

In his turn, Algis Kašēta has congratulated E. Sharmazanov and the Republican Party of Armenia on convincing victory in the parliamentary elections, which was held on May 6.

Mr Kašēta has noted that the Lithuanian observers, who followed the NA elections, have witnessed that free, fair elections in compliance with democratic standards have been held in Armenia.

The sides have emphasized the further cooperation between the two countries and parliaments and expressed hope that the Armenian-Lithuanian friendly relations will continue to become closer from now on.
