French Senators Visit Tsitsernakaberd
1 / 4

On May 26 Philippe Marini, Sophie Joissains and Bernard Fournier, members of the Senate of the Upper House of the Parliament of the Republic of France being in Armenia on a two-day visit, laid flowers at the memorial of the 1915 Armenian Genocide, honoured with a minute of silence the memory of one and a half million innocent victims, visiting Tsitsernakaberd.

The Senators have been to the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, got familiarized with the documents ensuring the Armenian Genocide, watched the exhibits, left a note in the Commemoration Book. Philippe Marini wrote: “Here I saw pain, loss and massacres, about which the documents tell us. Meanwhile, today there are people, who deny the Genocide, and from its calamities the disasters of the World War II were born.”

Condemning the organizers of the 1915 Armenian Genocide Philippe Marini noted: “The political forces represented in the French Parliament, and the supporters of the former President Sarkozy and the newly elected President Hollande, taking into consideration the objections on the former bill stipulated in the decision of the Constitutional Council of France, when the new Parliament of France is formed, will submit a new bill, which from the legal view should be undeniable. The main goal is to punish by law the people, who will deny the Armenian Genocide in the territory of France.”
