Next Four-Day Sittings of the National Assembly Begin
1 / 9

On April 8 the next four-day sittings of the RA National Assembly began.

The NA President Hovik Abrahamyan informed the MPs that on April 9 the NA special sitting would be convened in Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex for solemn ceremony of assuming the office of the President of the Republic of Armenia.

The NA President submitted for the deputies’ approval first, the recommendations of the amendments and postponements of the spring session agenda, then the agenda of the four-day sittings. After approving the agenda the parliamentarians by voting passed several issues debated in the previous four-day sittings, then ratified two international agreements.

During the first hour of the sitting the parliament continued to debate “The Annual Activity Program for 2013 of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition of the Republic of Armenia.”

In his co-report the Deputy Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs Mikayel Melkumyan presented the endorsement of the Head Committee, deeming the program admissible.

The RA Human Rights Defender Karen Andreasyan presented the annual report “On the Activity of the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia and Human Rights in the Country and Fundamental Freedoms During 2011.”

Karen Andreasyan also answered the NA deputies’ questions, which were mainly relating to the cases of violation of human rights and the form of the report.

The Deputy Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs Margarit Yesayan made a report on the theme and noted that the Committee had debated the report and accepted it as granted.

The debate of the issue will continue at the next sitting of the National Assembly.

To recap, in accordance of the paragraph 7 of the Article 51and the Article 54, the National Assembly made a decision to convene only one special sitting of assuming the office of the RA President on April 9, the second day of April 8-11 four-day sittings. The special sitting will be convened in Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex at 12:00.
