Meetings of the Delegation of the Parliament of the Czech Republic in the NA Committees
1 / 2

On April 18 the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on European Integration Naira Zohrabyan met with the Chairman of the Standing Committee for European Affairs of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Jan Bauer, Deputy Chairmen Jaroslav Lobkowicz, František Novosad and the member of the committee Soňa Marková . The Czech Republic Charges d’Affaires to the RA Petr Mikiska was also attending the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, touching upon Jan Bauer’s active participation in the adoption of Resolution N 219 on Khojalu events by the Standing Committee of the Czech Parliament, Naira Zohrabyan noted that it would be right that before voting for the Resolution he would visit Armenia in order to have a real picture about Khojalu events. The Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee expressed hope that Jan Bauer being in Armenia would try to get objective information about Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Armenian-Azerbaijani relations and Khojalu events. In her opinion, as EU member the adoption of such resolutions under the influence of Azerbaijan’s oil dollar campaign does not bring honor to the Czech parliamentarians.

In the course of the meeting the sides discussed issues concerning the next Summit of the Eastern Partnership to be held in Vilnius. The Czech MPs requested the Chair of the NA Standing Committee to give clarifications and remarks on the elections of Yerevan Elders to be held on May 5.

At the end of the meeting Jan Bauer invited the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on European Integration to visit the Czech Parliament.

On the same day the Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Artak Zakaryan and the Deputy Chairman of the Committee Alexander Arzumanyan also received the delegation of the Czech Parliament.

Welcoming the visit of the Parliamentary delegation of the Czech Republic to the National Assembly, Artak Zakaryan has underlined that the Czech Republic is a friendly country, and has old, historical traditions with Armenia. The Chairman of the Standing Committee deemed necessary the development of the cooperation between the two countries, the activation of the political dialogue, and with respect to deepening of parliamentary relations highlighted the cooperation of the committees.

At the guests’ request Artak Zakaryan touched upon the RA foreign policy, regional problems, Armenian-Turkish protocols and Armenia-European Union Association Agreement.

On the path of Armenia’s European integration Jan Bauer emphasized the solution of the Nagorno Karabakh problem. He expressed readiness to convey their rich experience reached in the direction of European integration.

The Deputy Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Alexander Arzumanyan also highlighted Armenia’s closest integration to the European Union.

At the end of the meeting the Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Artak Zakaryan expressed his gratitude to the Czech Republic Charges d’Affaires to the RA Petr Mikiska for boosting the Armenian-Czech relations at high level.
