NA Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov Meets with the Estonian Parliamentarians

On June 14 the Vice President of the National Assembly Eduard Sharmazanov received the deputies the Parliament of the Republic of Estonia Igor.Grazin, Siim Kabrits and Maret Maripuu.

In the course of the meeting issues concerning the development of the Armenian-Estonian inter-parliamentary, economic and cultural relations were discussed. Both sides recorded that especially the current situation of the economic cooperation could not be deemed sufficient, when big opportunities of implementing joint programmes were available. The opportunities of organizing business forums with the participation of the businessmen of the two countries with the purpose of filling in that gap were discussed.

Highly appreciating the perspectives of the development of cooperation of Armenia with the EU during the recent years the Estonian deputies expressed readiness to support Armenia in European integration.

During the meeting issues of regional security were also discussed. Eduard Sharmazanov has assured that Armenia has been and continues to be a propagator of peaceful co-existence and from the same positions the solution of the NK problem exclusively considers the path of peaceful negotiations. The NA Vice President has reaffirmed that the NKR cannot have lower status than it has today. He has underlined that the international recognition of the NKR has no alternative. Eduard Sharmazanov highly assessed the adopted balanced position of the Estonian authorities on the NK problem. The NA Vice President has noted that the Armenian authorities are resolute in the efficient continuity of democratic reforms.

In the course of the meeting issues regarding the mutual visits of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups, the cooperation of the parliamentarians of the two countries in the international structures, the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide and the Armenian-Turkish relations were also discussed.
