On September 4 the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations moderated by Artak Zakaryan debated three agreements submitted by the Government.

The debated agreements were endorsed to be debated and ratified in the parliament.

The RA NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport moderated by Artak Davtyan debated the proposal made by the Head of the Heritage faction Ruben Hakobyan and the Secretary of the ARF faction Aghvan Vardanyan on organizing parliamentary hearings over the rise of education fees. The RA Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan, the Chancellor of Yerevan State University Aram Simonyan, the Chancellor of Yerevan State University of Economics Koryun Atoyan, the Chancellor of Yerevan State University of Architecture and Construction Hovhannes Tokmajyan and the Chancellor of the Institute of Physical Culture Vahram Arakelyan assured that the issue of the rise of the fee payments had been repeatedly discussed.

The NA deputies, the students attending the sitting touched upon the problems of the system and submitted their recommendations and the views. As a result of debates, it was decided to organize parliamentary hearings during the period of debate of the legislative package from the first reading to the second one “On Amending the RA Law on Education,” and “On Amending the RA Law on Higher Education and Post-Higher Education Professional Education.”

The deputies debated in the second reading procedure and endorsed several bills to be included in the agenda draft law of the upcoming four day sittings.

The Committee made a decision to postpone the debate of the bill authored by the NA deputies Heghine Bisharyan and Hovhannes Margaryan “On Amending the RA Law on Higher Education and Post-Higher Education Professional Education.”
