On September 6 the Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Artak Davtyan received Oliver McCoy, OSCE Yerevan Office Democratization Programme Manager, Tsovinar Arevyan, OSCE Yerevan Office National Programme Officer, Shushan Doydoyan, founder and president of “ Freedom of Information Center” NGO and the organization lawyer Gevorg Hayrapetyan.

OSCE Yerevan Office Democratization Programme Manager Oliver McCoy informed that the aim of the visit was to discuss the RA legal field regulating mess media and in the case of necessity offer an expert consultation.  

The participants of the meeting noted that the RA current law on Freedom of information needs to be updated. In their opinion new ITs has been produced on which there is no provisions in the law, besides there are collisions with other laws and state duties for information are in great amount, etc.  

The Chair of the Standing Committee suggested creating a working group which will be engaged in drafting the bill.
