National Assembly Begins the Work of the Four-Day Sittings

On February 24 the National Assembly began the work of the next four-day sittings and with the approval of the agendas of the four-day sittings.

The National Assembly also approved by voting the NA draft decision on replacing the days of the NA four-day sittings’ convocations, according to which, the days of convocation of March 17-20 four-day sittings would be replaced into March 10-13, the days of convocation of the April 7-10 four-day sittings into March 24-27.

The NA deputies with one-minute silence paid tribute to the memory of the victims who died in Ukraine. The deputies greeted the pupils and teachers of the schools from different communities from Aragatsotn, Shirak, Gegharkunik marzes, who were in the legislative body within the framework of Open Doors Programme of the National Assembly and were following the procedure of the NA sitting. The deputies by voting passed the bills considered in the previous four-day sittings, ratified the international treaties and ended the debate of the bill “On Amending the RA Law on Approval of List of Goods Imported by Organization and Private Entrepreneurs, That Have '0' Customs Duty Rate and are Not Subject to Excise Taxation and For Which Value Added Tax shall not be Calculated and Collected by Customs Authorities,” which was interrupted in the previous sitting.

The deputies debated the NA draft decision “On Establishing an Ad-hoc Inquiry Committee on the Activity of the Gas Supply System of the Republic of Armenia.” According to the key reporter, the co-author of the draft law Davit Harutyunyan, the Committee should set forward a task to study and make a conclusion on the price formation during the natural gas delivery, and the debates should be feasible and without any political context.

Davit Harutyunyan also informed the deputies that according to the decision, the sittings of the Committee would be closed, except the cases designed by the decision of the Committee. In the composition of the Ad-hoc Committee 4 deputies from the RPA faction, 2 deputies from the PAP, 1 deputy from other factions will be included.

The key reporter also answered the deputies’ questions, and exchange of thoughts was held on the draft law.

The debate of the issue will continue at February 25 NA sitting.
