On May 15 in the National Assembly, in the Armenian-Russian Friendship Parliamentary Club, a discussion on the theme “The Problems and the Perspectives of the Development of the Armenian-Russian Theatrical Relations” was held. NA deputies, heads of theatres, stage directors and actors took part in the discussion. The participants of the meeting discussed issues regarding the Armenian-Russian cultural ties and bilateral cooperation. Then they touched upon the current problems of the theatre.

Welcoming the theatrical figures in the parliament the NA deputy Heghine Bisharyan noted that in future the bill “On the Theatre and Theatrical Activity” would be submitted to the parliament and the aim of the meeting was to discuss the problems of the theatre and the people closely relating to it and share their concerns. The NA deputy Naira Zohrabyan highlighted the necessity of having a law connected with the sphere, as the problem of the regulation of the sphere had risen long ago.

The Artistic Director of the State Musical Chamber Theater Davit Hakobyan presented the problems facing the theatre today.

The Artistic Director of Stanislavski Russian Drama Theatre Alexander Grigoryan has noted that it’s time to have a bill protecting the interests of theatre and theatrical activity.

The theatrical figures also talked about the problems of theatre in the marzes.

Heghine Bisharyan proposed to formulate all the recommendations and observations submit to the authors of the bill.

The participants of the meeting offered to meet in other format and discuss the problems more thoroughly.
