Open Lesson in the National Assembly

On May 20 within the framework of the “Open Doors” programme a group of teachers and pupils of the Basic College of Gyumri Branch of the Armenian State University of Economics visited the National Assembly, attended the NA sitting and followed the debate of the RA Government Activity programme.

The Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Artak Davtyan conducted the open lesson. The Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Agriculture and Environment Martun Grigoryan also attended the meeting.

The deputy Martun Grigoryan welcomed the pupils in the NA, highlighting their visit within the framework of the “Open Doors” programme and the direct contacts with the deputies. Martun Grigoryan has noted that the problems relating to Gyumri are at the centre of attention of the parliament and are raised by the deputies from Gyumri. The MP urged the pupils of the college to use the time in a right way and study well.

Afterwards Artak Davtyan presented the structure, the legislative activity and the work of the Standing Committees to the pupils.

He answered to the students' and teachers' questions, which related to the entrance examinations and test books of the higher educational institutions, the Bologna process, the credit system of the education, etc. Touching upon the twelve-year compulsory education Mr Davtyan highlighted the comparison of the RA educational system with the educational systems of other countries of the world.

At the end of the meeting the NA deputies wished the pupils all the best and had been taken photo at the NA Session Hall.
