On May 21 the parliament continued the work of the four-day sittings. Before voting the package of draft laws “On Amending the RA Electoral Code,” “On Amending the RA Law on the NA Rules of Procedure” and “On Amending the RA Law on Constitutional Court” authored by the ARF faction deputies, the Head of the RPA faction Vahram Baghdasaryan has announced that the faction would vote against the package, as it needs additional debate. The Head of the Heritage faction Rubik Hakobyan has informed the deputies that they will vote for the initiative. As a result of voting the package of bills did not pass.
By the proposal of the NA Speaker the deputies welcomed the pedagogues and pupils of the secondary school of Aghdzk village in Aragatsotn marz, who were in the National Assembly within the framework of the “Open Doors” programme and were observing the procedure of the sittings.
Then the parliament continued the debate of the issue “On Approving the RA Government Programme” on which more than two dozen deputies, among them Hrant Bagratyan, Tevan Poghosyan, Nikol Pashinyan, Stepan Demirchyan, Hovhannes Sahakyan, Mikayel Melkumyan, Ishkhan Khachatryan, Aram Manukyan and Khosrov Harutyunyan took the floor.
In his extraordinary speech the NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov touched upon the deputies’ speeches and welcomed the opposition speakers, who had made constructive proposals and had seen the successes registered by the new government. He has underlined once again that the government programme is realistic and involves all the spheres.
The RA Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan delivered an extraordinary speech and touched upon the deputies’ interpellations to the Head of the government relating to the education and science during the Q & A.
The debate of the programme will continue at May 22 NA sitting.
According to the established order of the law “On the NA Rules of Procedure” at the last hour of the Wednesday sitting the members of the government answered the deputies’ questions.
