On June 18 by the decision of the RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan, under Article 70 of the RA Constitution, at the initiative of the RA Government, the RA National Assembly convened an extraordinary session with the agenda defined by the initiator.

The NA deputies in one-minute silence honoured the memory of Samvel Gevorgyan, the member of the Karabakh committee, the former deputy of the Supreme Council and the National Assembly, an active public, political figure, who passed away on June 17.

The NA Speaker put for voting the NA draft decisions on the special procedure of holding extraordinary sessions and the order of debating a number of draft laws, which were passed by the National Assembly. The parliament by voting did not pass the NA draft decision on the special order of debating a number of draft laws and the package of bills “On State Support of the IT Sphere”, “On Amending the RA Law on Profit Tax” and “On Amending the RA Law on Income Tax” debated in the first reading.

The RA Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Artem Asatryan presented the bill “On Amending the RA Law on Payment to the Government Officials” was sent back to the National Assembly with the RA President’s objection.

Then the deputies in the first reading debated the bill “On Amending the RA Code on Administrative Infringements,” which presented the Deputy Head of Police Artur Osikyan.

The exchange of thoughts took place on the draft law.

In his final speech the key speaker Artur Osikyan thanked for the concerning debate, touched upon the voiced viewpoints and interpellations and gave clarifications.

Afterwards the parliament debated the package of the draft laws “On State Control of Food Safety,” “On Food Safety,” “On Amending the RA Law on Ensuring Sanitary-Epidemic Safety of the RA Population,” “On Veterinary Medicine,” “On Amending the RA Law on Local Self-Government,” “On Amending the RA Law on the Local Self-Government in the City of Yerevan,” “On Phytosanitary”, “On Feed,” “On Amending the RA Law on State Duty,” which presented the RA Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan.

The deputies addressed questions to Sergo Karapetyan, which referred to food safety ensuring, implementing control mechanisms, the presence of harmful substances in food, imposition of control on expired food, etc.
