On September 18 the RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan received the Delegation of the Armenian-Kuwaiti Friendship Group from the Kuwaiti Parliament, headed by Faisal Fahd Al- Shaya.

The RA NA President Galust Sahakyan welcomed the members of the delegation in the National Assembly and asked to convey his good wishes to the Speaker of the National Assembly of Kuwait Marzouq Al Ghanim. The RA NA President highlighted the visit of the parliamentary friendship group to Armenia, expressing hope that for the Armenian-Kuwaiti developing relations this visit will have a practical meaning and will promote the further strengthening of inter-parliamentary cooperation. Galust Sahakyan noted with satisfaction that the relations between Armenia and Kuwait are advancing stably, and the development of relations with the Arabic world on various platforms is one of the priorities of Armenian’s foreign policy. The Head of the Parliament spotlighted the cooperation in the international organizations and documented that the principles of peaceful coexistence between states and peoples, international peace, security and regional stability are embedded in the basis of Armenia’s foreign policy. The RA NA Speaker has opined that the Arabic friendly states’ unbiased and neutral approach on international and regional platforms on circulating pro-Azerbaijani initiatives will have its serious contribution to the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh problem. Talking about the Armenian-Kuwaiti friendship, the RA NA Speaker thanked them for the warm and caring attitude towards the Kuwaiti Armenian community and for showing material assistance to the Syrian Armenians deported from Syria.

Galust Sahakyan has noted that the Armenian people remember with gratefulness the Arab people’s humanitarian attitude towards thousands of Armenian migrants who survived from the Armenian Genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman Empire at the beginning of the previous century.

The RA NA Speaker invited the members of the delegation to visit Armenia in 2015 and pay their tribute to the memory of the martyrs of the Armenian Genocide. The Head of the parliament has expressed confidence that great development is expected for the Armenian-Kuwaiti trade-economic relations, which will open wider horizons for further mutually beneficial cooperation. He has noted that there is a big potential of cooperation development between Armenia and Kuwait in the political, economic, cultural and other spheres and expressed willingness to support any initiative aimed at the development of the Armenian-Kuwaiti cooperation.

The Head of the Armenian-Kuwaiti Friendship Group Faisal Fahd Al-Shaya thanked the RA NA Speaker for the warm reception and conveyed the greetings of the Speaker of the National Assembly of Kuwait Marzouq Al Ghanim. The Head of the delegation has noted that during the meeting of the friendship groups numerous issues regarding the bilateral cooperation have been discussed and the investment programmes of health care, science and other spheres have been referred to. Faisal Fahd Al-Shaya has mentioned that Kuwait has its distinct attitude towards the genocide and crimes committed against humanity in general and calls on everyone for peace regardless of their national and religious identity.

In the name of the Speaker of the National Assembly Faisal Fahd Al-Shaya invited the RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan and Armenia-Kuwait Friendship Group to Kuwait, and the invitation was gladly accepted by the RA NA Speaker.
