On December 22 the Head of the RA NA Armenian-Iran Friendship Group Vahram Baghdasaryan met with Seyed Mohammad Reza Damavandi, the Executive Director of Iran-Armenia Friendship Union NGO, and the persons accompanying him.

Welcoming the guests, Vahram Baghdasaryan touched upon the centuries-old friendship of the Armenian and Iranian peoples and underlined the values and commonalities connecting each other. He thanked the Iranian side for the warm reception shown towards the Armenian community, as well as for the policy directed to the preservation of the cultural values. Referring to the centuries-old friendship of the two peoples, the interlocutors considered necessary to make closer the cultural ties, deepen and strengthen the trade-economic relations.

The Executive Director of Iran-Armenia Friendship Union NGO informed Vahram Baghdasaryan that the NGO had envisaged implementing a number of programmes and seminars dedicated to the friendship of the Armenian and Iranian peoples for the next year. The programme bears the symbolic name “History: Plus 25” and will include different spheres. The Head of the NA Armenia-Iran Friendship Group expressed readiness to support the implementation of the programme and present recommendations.

During the talk the events on the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide was also touched upon. Vahram Baghdasaryan invited the Iranian guests to take part in those events, which was gladly accepted. In this context Seyed Mohammad Reza Damavandi said that exhibitions and events dedicated to the memory of the Armenian Genocide victims had already been organized in Iran and would be also designed in future.
