On March 12 at the press conference held in the RA National Assembly the NA deputy Artsvik Minasyan detailed the results of the visit of the RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov to the Czech Republic on March 8-11. T he Chief of Staff, General Secretary Hrayr Tovmasyan was also in the delegation.
According to Artsvik Minasyan, the delegation took part in the exhibition of the photos opened i n the Czech Museum of Music, which was dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centennial. The exhibition will last until March 22, it has been held as a result of agreements reached beforehand. The exhibition was held under the auspice of the Committee on Petitions of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic and was titled “Armenian Genocide: Front Page Coverage inthe World Press. ” The representatives of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, the Armenian community, diplomatic corps, the Spiritual Leader, the Archbishop of Prague Cardinal Dominik Duka and citizens attended the opening ceremony.
Evaluating successful the exhibition, Artsvik Minasyan has noted that the photographs and documents more simply and accessible present the genocide perpetrated in the Ottoman Empire 100 years ago and during other periods, and the response of the international community to what happened, which witness both what happened and the condemnations. Touching upon the commemoration events dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centennial, Mr Minasyan expressed hope that an authoritative delegation will also be from the Czech Republic.
On March 10 the RA NA Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov delivered a speech-lecture in the conference entitled “Crime of Genocide: Legal and Political Aspects” held at Charles University in Prague, where the professors and lecturers and students of the University took part, as well as Ahmet Necati Bigali, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Czech Republic.
In Artsvik Minasyan’s word, the Turkish side has received the speech by the NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov without aggression, and the responses from the Turkish side have been within the limits of decency.
The delegation had meetings with the Czech Republic-Armenia Parliamentary Group and Zdeněk Škromach, the Vice President of the Senate. Both sides highlighted the deepening and rapprochement of the relations.
