On April 23 the President of the RA National Assembly Galust Sahakyan, participating in the works of the Global Forum “Against the Crime of Genocide,” received the Delegation led by the Mrs Denise Pascal Allende, Vice President of the Parliament of the Republic of Chile, which arrived in Armenia to take part in the forum. Welcoming the guests, Galust Sahakyan expressed his gratitude for taking part in the commemoration events dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centennial. During the talk with the guests, the President of the Parliament of the Republic of Armenia, within the framework of the events dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centennial highlighted the holding of the Global Forum. He has particularly noted that the delegations taking part in the forum once again have showed that the denialism of Turkey towards the Armenian Genocide is doomed to failure. The RA NA President has reaffirmed the idea that the main means of prevention of genocides and other crimes is their recognition and condemnation. He has also noted that during these days Armenia and the Armenian Genocide became more recognizable to the world: its vivid evidence serve the international responses aimed at the recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide.
Galust Sahakyan has once again confirmed the position of the Republic of Armenia: i.e, the struggle of Armenia will continue how long it is necessary for the recognition of the Genocide by Turkey.
Thanking for the meeting the Vice President of the Parliament of Chile highlighted the visit of the Delegation of the Parliament of Chile to Armenia and its participation in the commemoration events. In the Vice President’s word, the population of Chile realizes that there should not be genocides in the world.
She has noted that these events being held in Armenia are very important for the world: Armenia voices that one cannot live denying any more. During the meeting the Vice President of the Parliament of Chile also talked about bilateral relations and noted that the parliamentary cooperation between the two countries should be more activated.
Denise Allende has emphasized the MPs’ cooperation, as a result of which, there will be peace in the world, and crimes committed 100 years ago, will not be repeated.
On the same day the RA NA President Galust Sahakyan also received the Delegation of the International Secretariat of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy.
