On July 6-11 in Bern (Switzerland) the 41st Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie (APF) was held, where the Head of the RA NA Delegation Margarit Yesayan to the APF took part.
Delivering a speech at the meeting of the Political Committee, the Head of the RA NA Delegation to the APF Margarit Yesayan touched upon the Armenian Genocide Centennial, on that occasion the events held in Armenia, which are considered as a special appeal to the world, aimed at the prevention and condemnation of crimes against genocides and humanity. After the speech of the Head of the NA Delegation the Chair of the Political Committee Jacque Legendre in the name of the Committee expressed his support to the Armenian people on the occasion of the Armenian Genocide Centennial.
The President of the National Council of Switzerland Stéphane Rossini, the President of the Council of the States of Switzerland Claude Hêche, the President of the APF Paul McIntyre, the Secretary General of La Francophonie International Organisation Michaëlle Jean, the Head of the Federal Department of the Foreign Affairs of (FDFA) Switzerland Didier Burkhalter took part in the official ceremony of the opening of the APF Plenary Meeting and made opening remarks.
While presenting the report on the European Regional Activity, the member of the Belgian Delegation Françoise Bertieaux , who was replacing the Head of the European Regional Mission Jean-Paul Wahl noted hat the meeting of the Presidents of the European Region of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie convened in Yerevan from March 30 until April 2, 2015 was held on the eve of the Armenian Genocide Centennial when a statement condemning the Armenian Genocide was adopted.
Let us note that in parallel with the works of the Plenary Meeting Margarit Yesayan met with her colleagues of different countries. Mrs Yesayan also took part in the Meeting of the APF Women’s Network and made discussions on agenda items.
On July 5-10 the 7th Session of the Francophonie Youth Parliament was held, where Lusine Nalbandyan, the third form student of Yerevan Valery Brusov State University of Languages and Social Sciences, took part.
