On July 30 the meeting of the NA Armenia-USA Friendship Group with Richard Mills, U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia was held.

Welcoming the guest in the parliament the Head of the Friendship Group Samvel Nikoyan highly assessed the cooperation of the Republic of Armenia and the United States of America and emphasized the partnership of the Friendship Group not only with the U.S. Embassy to Armenia, but also with the congressional members of the United States.

During his meeting with the U.S.-Armenia Friendship Group of the National Assembly, Ambassador Mills stated, “The U.S. greatly values its friendship with Armenia, and I assure you that the door to strong U.S.-Armenia cooperation remains open.
 
“The U.S. government continues to partner with Armenian government and civil society to develop Armenia’s democratic institutions, strengthen Armenia’s security through our military cooperation, and looks to expand the scope and reach of our bilateral economic cooperation.  The National Assembly is a natural partner in fostering closer U.S.-Armenia relations and we look forward to working more closely to strengthen our engagement with Armenia’s legislative body” Richard Mills noted.

Highlighting the political relations with the USA, the NA deputies, members of Armenia-USA Friendship Group Hermine Naghdalyan, Tevan Poghosyan, Khachatur Kokobelyan, Vardan Oskanyan, Gurgen Arsenyan and Artsvik Minasyan presented the agenda items of the Friendship Group, which related to the RA national security, the NKR conflict settlement, the Armenian-Turkish relations, the tension at the Azerbaijani border, the RA-USA economic cooperation, sale of Vorotan Hydropower Plant, and other items.

Summing up the meeting with the U.S. Ambassador Richard Mills, the Head of the RA NA Armenia-USA Friendship Group Samvel Nikoyan assured that all the issues proposed by the NA deputies will be discussed, summed up, and a working agenda will be formed to organize and implement joint works in future.
