During the meeting issues of bilateral interest have been discussed, which refer to the RA participation to the international peaceful mission, regional security, military education and exercises, defense consultations, cooperation with U.S. George C. Marshall Centre. Committee Head Koryun Nahapetyan highly appreciated the level of cooperation and spoke about the development perspectives of the mentioned directions.
The parties have spoken about Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement processes, referring to the recent tensed situation at the borders of Tavush Marz and NKR contact line, violations of cease-fire regime and shelling of Armenian settlements by
Koryun Nahapetyan spotlighted the parliamentary role in the Armenian –American military cooperation context, mainly from the perspective of intensification and interaction of ties between relevant Committees of the two country’s parliaments. He has attached an importance to the Armenian MPs’ participation in the “21st Century and Transnational Security Challenges, Parliamentary Role” program in Garmisch in July 2015. Anthony Sebo has touched upon the importance of confidence-building measures in ensuring regional peace and stability.
Summing up the meeting, Koryun Nahapetyan has confirmed the willingness to promote the implementation of the Armenian-American security cooperation programmes within the parliamentary format.
