On November 6 the meeting of the Euronest PA Committee on Social Affairs, Education, Culture and Civil Society was held in Tbilisi.

Artak Zakaryan, the Committee Chairman, Head of the RA NA to Euronest PA moderated the meeting. In his speech he particularly touched upon the recent developments of Armenia-European Union cooperation, talked about the current situation in the Euronest, presented the joint programmes being implemented in the spheres of culture and education by Armenia and the European Union.

Members from the European Parliament, Parliaments of Armenia, Ukraine and Georgia took part in the works of the meetings. The RA NA deputy Karine Atshemyan was elected as the First Deputy Chair of the Committee.

The draft report “On Mutual recognition of professional qualifications, work experience and the University diplomas within the Bologna process” were discussed during the meeting of the Committee, which will be voted at the next Plenary Session of the Assembly. The co-authors of the report, the representatives of the European Parliament and the Parliament of Moldova briefly presented the report and answered the attendees’ questions.

On November 9-10 the meetings of the Euronest PA continued in Brussels with the participation of the members of the European Parliament, Parliaments of Armenia, Georgia and Ukraine.

On November 9 the meeting of the Committee on Political Affairs, Human Rights and Democracy was held, where the RA NA Hovhannes Sahakyan was elected as the Second Deputy Chair of the Committee. The draft report on “Common positions and concerns of the EU Member States and Eastern European partner countries over foreign policies and external threats to their security” was discussed at the Committee meeting, which will be voted at the next Plenary Session of the Assembly. The co-rapporteurs of the document Artak Zakaryan and the representative of the European Parliament Sandra Kalniete presented the draft report. Artak Zakaryan in his speech highlighted the theme of the report under the light of the current geo-political developments, noting that the comprehensive and wide-scale character of the document reflects the modern problems. He called on the members to make constructive recommendations on the report text.

During the meeting discussions were held on the activities within the framework of the first platform: “Democracy, Effective Administration and Stability” and on the EU ENP new policy, as well as the results of the observation missions carried out in the Eastern Partnership countries in the recent period by the European Parliament and the OSCE were presented. The themes were submitted by the high ranking representatives of the European Parliament, the European Commission and the European External Action Service.

On November 10 the meetings of the Committees on Energy Security and on Economic Integration, Legal Approximation and Convergence with EU Policies were held.

At the meeting of the Committee on Energy Security the draft report “On Policy development on unconventional gas and potential impact on energy markets in the EU and the Eastern European partner countries was submitted by the co-rapporteurs and will be voted at the next Plenary Session of the Assembly.

During the meeting the representative of the European Commission touched upon the information on the activities during the recent period within the framework of the third platform Energy Security.

On the same day during the meeting of the Committee on Economic Integration, Legal Approximation and Convergence with EU Policies the RA NA deputy Hrant Bagratyan was elected Co-Chair of the Committee.

At the meeting the draft report on “EU multiannual financial perspectives and their impact on Eastern Partnership countries economics” was presented and discussed, which will be voted at the next Plenary Session of the Assembly.

During the meeting the information on the EU financial support directed at the activities implemented within the framework of the second platform “Economic Integration and Convergence with EU Policies,” as well as the economic integration of the Eastern Partnership member states by the employees of the European Parliament and the European External Action Service were presented.

The next Plenary Session of the Euronest PA will be held in spring of 2016.
