On April 26, within the framework of the Open Doors programme the students of Monte Melkonian Military and Sports College of RA Ministry of Defense visited the National Assembly and observed the four-day sittings of the National Assembly.

The Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs Koryun Nahapetyan conducted the open lesson. He presented the students of the Military and Sports College the structure, composition, the legislative and representation activities of the parliament. Talking about the College students’ professional choice Koryun Nahapetyan highlighted the role of the skilled, patriot, literate military in the establishment of the Armenian army and our state.

Touching upon the military operation occurred on Karabakh-Azerbaijani line of contact in the first days of April Mr Nahapetyan talked about the soldiers’ heroic deeds and losses incurred by our army. At the request of the College students Koryun Nahapetyan also referred to the tension on the line of contact in recent days and steps taken to stabilizing the situation. He presented the firm position of the Republic of Armenia on the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict exclusively through peaceful means.

During the talk the College students addressed their questions to the Committee Chairman.

The questions related to the military continuous education, the maintenance of the ceasefire regime, the possibility of the recognition of Nagorno Karabakh independence by the Republic of Armenia.

At the end of the meeting the students of Monte Melkonian Military and Sports College had their photo taken with Koryun Nahapetyan in the Plenary Session Hall of the National Assembly.
