On May 5, the Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs met with the Expertise Group of the U.S. and the United Kingdom assisting the implementation of the results on the RA Defense Strategic Revision.

Koryun Nahapetyan highly assessed the support of the Expertise Group to the Second Defense Strategic Revision and stressed the Committee’s participation in all phases of the process: the security environment, the evaluation of the inner and external threats, the specification of the roles and tasks of the beneficiary bodies in the sphere of defense, the development of the RA armed forces and other directions.

The perspectives of cooperation in the implementation of the results of the Defense Strategic Revision were discussed, and particularly the necessity of the formation of the new legislation of the defense sphere was underlined. In this context Koryun Nahapetyan highlighted the conformity of the legislation with the Constitutional Amendments and the requirements stemming from the results of the Defense Strategic Revision.

The Expertise Group expressed its readiness to cooperate with the NA Standing Committee for the improvement of the legislation and the parliamentary oversight mechanisms.
