The RA National Assembly President’s congratulatory message reads:

“Dear compatriots, I congratulate you on Family Day.

This holiday coming from our national sources is at the same time all-human, as it includes in itself such notions, which are of the most important significance for all peoples; house, parent, child and Motherland.

This holiday being young has an old and substantiated history, in the name of the history of mankind, because the family is the pillar of the nation and the cornerstone of the state, the firmness of which is subjected to ordeal both in peace and war times. During our history the family as a hearth and a small Motherland, has undergone through scores of such ordeals. The Armenian soldier and officer who have become heroes in April recent war events in the name of the Motherland also defended their families, won for the sake of Motherland and family, were perished for the Motherland and the family. They received the first lessons of loving the Motherland, saving the friend, not giving in the land, of faith and devotion from the family and the parent, and completed those lessons with the idea of Motherland.

There is a very deep meaning when the voluntary father and his soldier son together stand at the border, the young wife bids farewell with her new-born child to her officer husband going to service - work, and of course, the Mother sees off her son to the army: everybody is excited, but also limitlessly proud. This is a symbolic witness that irrespective of economic and social difficulties, among us the family has firmly kept the basis of the country, more strengthening it, bringing up, hardening a soldier and a citizen, entrusting them to the Motherland, and the Motherland to them.

Once again congratulating you on this light holiday, I wish that in our families the warmth, love and solidarity continue, that the peace and welfare be the permanent guides of our houses, and the optimism always inspires everybody and give unshakable hope, that tomorrow will be better for every family and for our country.”
