RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov Receives the Representatives of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung

On June 7, the RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov received the Head of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung/Foundation (KAS) Regional Office Thomas Schrapel and Tim B.Peters, Desk Officer of the Central, Eastern and Northern Europe.

Welcoming the guests the RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov highly assessed the adoption of the Resolution on the Armenian Genocide Recognition and Condemnation by the Bundestag of Germany and noted that by the adoption of the Resolution Germany once again reaffirmed its adherence to the principles of democracy.

The NA Deputy Speaker highlighted the many-year activities of the KAS in Armenia. Positively assessing the cooperation of the Foundation with the RA National Assembly, Eduard Sharmazanov considered expedient to make closer the cooperation of the KAS with the NA Staff. He expressed readiness to show practical support in the implementation of different programmes.

Touching upon the regional problems, the NA Deputy Speaker presented the war operations carried out by Azerbaijan towards Nagorno Karabakh at the beginning of April, during which atrocities and tortures were committed not only against the Armenian servicemen, but also against the civilians. Eduard Sharmazanov conveyed to the guests documents proving those atrocities. The NA Deputy Speaker once again has noted that both Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh seek peace and peaceful settlement of the conflict, remaining faithful to the internationally accepted three well known principles, unlike Azerbaijan, which continues its bellicose and absurd announcements.

Highlighting the cooperation of perspective and strategic importance with Germany, the NA Deputy Speaker also deemed essential the fact that this year the Germany chairs the in the OSCE.

Thanking the NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov for the meeting the Head of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung/Foundation Regional Office Thomas Schrapel presented the programmes, which the KAS aimed at implementing in future. He has detailed that in Armenia it is designed to implement programmes, which will be continuous and mainly relate to the youth. He, as well as Tim B.Peters, Desk Officer of the Central, Eastern and Northern Europe, highlighted the deepening of cooperation with the National Assembly and the implementation of the NA employees' training programmes.
