On September 22, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, Head of the Armenia-Israel Friendship Group Artak Zakaryan, Group members Tevan Poghosyan, Karen Shahmuradyan and Vahan Babayan met with the delegation led by Deputy Speaker of the Knesset of the State of Israel, Head of the Israel-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group Tali Ploskov.
Welcoming the guest, Artak zakaryan expressed gratitude to Deputy Speaker of the Knesset Tali Ploskov for participating in the events of the 25th anniversary of the RA Independence.
The parliamentarians discussed issues pertaining to the activation of bilateral relations and cooperation during the meeting. The parties agreed on activation of friendship group in recent years. The parties emphasized cooperation development in a number of spheres such as healthcare, tourism, science, agriculture, latest IT and etc.
The parliamentarians also discussed issues on holding of an Armenian-Israeli Forum adjacent to the friendship group in the future.
Speaking about the necessity of parliamentarians’ active role in condemning and preventing genocides, the Armenian side, highlighting the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the Knesset Committee on Education, underscored that the Armenian parliamentarians hope that the Knesset will express its official position on the recognition an condemnation of the Armenian Genocide.
Deputy Speaker of the Knesset, Head of the Israel-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group Mrs Tali Ploskov congratulated the Armenian people on the 25th anniversary of the RA Independence and expressed gratitude for the invitation to those events. Mrs Ploskov, spotlighting the parliamentary cooperation and the deepening of Israel-Armenia ties, noted that there is a great potential for the development of interaction in various spheres.
During the meeting, they also talked about the necessity to fulfill a number of programmes. Steps for the preparation of Armenian-Israeli Forum were also discussed. The idea of the establishment of the Forum was initiated by the Armenian delegation led by Artak Zakaryan during its visit to
