Artak Zakaryan’s Visit to United Mexican States Continues

On November 23, within the framework of the visit to the United Mexican States the Chair of RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Artak Zakaryan met with the Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Senate of Mexico Gabriela Cuevas Barron, the Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee for the Asia-Pacific of the Senate Teofilo Torres Corzo and the Senators of the two Committees.

In their speeches the Committee Chairs underlined that in the bilateral parliamentary relations this visit is the first one from the Armenian side. The necessity of the activation of the dialogue and the regular contacts were highlighted.

At the Senators’ request Artak Zakaryan thoroughly presented the RA inner and regional developments, Armenia’s relative advantages in the trade-economic joint activities and encouraging investments, as well as touched upon the peculiarities of the current phase of the Nagorno Karabakh issue, underlining the necessity of the fair and balanced position by the international structures and certain states for providing stability in the region and secur environment.

Afterwards, answering the Senators questions, Artak Zakaryan presented the reforms being made in Armenia, the peculiarities of the adoption of the new Constitution, Armenia-Motherland cooperation, the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, as well as the anti-Armenian policy being pursued by Azerbaijan. The Mexican Senators expressed readiness to promote the deepening of the inter-state relations, highlighting the formation of the legal-contractual field regarding different spheres, the mutual visits and the development of cooperation.

At the end of the meeting Artak Zakaryan gave interview to the Mexico Congress TV Channel. Representatives of a number of leading mass media also took part in the meeting.

On the same day Artak Zakaryan’s meeting with the Secretary of Foreign Affairs (Minister of Foreign Affairs) of Mexico Claudia Ruiz Massieu Salinas also took place. During the talk Claudia Ruiz Massieu Salinas emphasized the deepening and strengthening of the relations with Armenia, distinguishing the inter-parliamentary diplomacy in the development of the inter-state relations and the two peoples’ rapprochement. The interlocutors in detail referred to Armenia-Mexico agenda items. Both sides attached importance to the necessity of the political continuous dialogue and the realization of the cultural cooperation potential. The RA NA Committee Chair presented the regional developments and the current procedure of the Nagorno Karabakh issue.

An agreement was reached to organize mutual visits within the framework of the 25th anniversary of Armenia-Mexico diplomatic relations.
