On December 19, the parliamentary hearings were held by the NA Standing Committee on Agriculture and Environment on the theme The Development Programme of Cattle Breeding in Action.

The NA deputies, representatives of the RA Ministry of Agriculture, different regional municipalities, rural communities, international organizations and NGOs and scientific institutions took part in the hearings.

The Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Agriculture and Environment Martun Grigoryan, presenting to the speakers the theme under debate, touched upon the programme directed to the development of cattle breeding being implemented in the RA since 2007.

The RA Minister of Agriculture Ignati Arakelyan presented the goals of the programme being implemented.

Referring to the problems regarding the implementation of the programme and expressing readiness to debate the ways of the solution of the problems with the sides concerned, the Minister noted that as a result of cooperation with the NA Standing Committee on Agriculture and Environment soon recommendations will be submitted, which in case of change of certain conditions will provide the continuity of the programme.

In his report the RA Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ashot Harutyunyan has presented that in our country the development of cattle breeding programme is carried out by Japanese grant and from the beginning it has been designed to import about 12.000 heifers.

In their speeches the representatives of scientific institutions studying the sphere of cattle breeding touched upon the situation in the sphere, the existing problems and the possible ways of their solution.

Summing up the parliamentary hearings the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Agriculture and Environment Martun Grigoryan has stated that the Committee is ready to discuss the ways of the solution of the programmes with the specialists concerned with the development of the sphere, promoting the development of one of the most important spheres of agriculture.
