On June 5, the Armenian delegation led by Hermine Naghdalyan, being in the RF capital to take part in the works of the 29th sitting of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee on Cooperation between the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation to be held on June 5-8 in Khanty Mansyisk Autonomous Region of Russia, had meetings with the First Deputy Speaker of the RF FA Federal Council Nikolay Fyodorov and the First Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Alexander Zhukov.

Shubin, A, Kobylev and the RF Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the RA I. Volynkin from the Russian side and the RA National Assembly deputies H. Babukhanyan (RPA Faction), J. Baghdasaryan (RPA Faction), T. Urikhanyan (Tsarukyan Faction), T. Mikayelyan (Tsarukyan Faction), E. Marukyan (Way Out), A. Sargsyan (Way Out Faction), A. Mirzoyan (Way Out Faction), A. Vardanyan (ARF Faction) and the RA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the RF V. Toghanyan from the Armenian side took part in the meetings.
During the meetings with the Deputy Speakers of the two chambers of the RF parliament, the interlocutors have noted that the Armenian-Russian parliamentary cooperation is one of the most important components of the wide palette of the bilateral cooperation, in which the Armenian-Russian Inter-Parliamentary Commission has a special role.
The Armenian and Russian colleagues have recorded that after the parliamentary elections this is the first meeting both in Armenia and in Russia and congratulated each other for being elected and holding elections enjoying high trust. The Armenian delegates have assured that all the political forces represented in the newly formed Armenian parliament are concerned with cooperating with the colleagues. The Committee members thanked the previous staff of the Armenian-Russian Inter-Parliamentary Committee, which due to its long years had serious contribution to the efficiency of the joint works and in expanding the relations.
During the meeting with the RF FA Federal Council First Deputy Speaker Nikolay Fyodorov the interlocutors have documented that at present the cooperation between Armenia and Russia is of allied character and is based on the long-term interests of the two countries. It is strengthened with numerous treaties and agreements, which provide sustainable development of bilateral relations. In the course of the meeting, the RA NA deputies Hayk Babukhanyan, Tigran Urikhanyan and Aram Sargsyan actively took part in the discussions.
During the meeting with the State Duma First Deputy Speaker Alexander Zhukov the parties touched upon the economic cooperation, volumes of investments, as well as the problems of the citizens of Armenian origin residing in Russia and a number of issues concerning the counteracting of the national movements.
The parties expressed confidence that the Eurasian Economic Union will play the most important role in the development of the economies of the two countries.
The Co-Chair of the Armenian-Russian Inter-Parliamentary Committee Hermine Naghdalyan especially highlighted the cooperation in the international sphere, underlining the constructive role of Russia as a Co-Chair country of the OSCE Minsk Group in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict peaceful settlement, within the frameworks of agreements reached in Vienna and in Saint-Petersburg. The sides talked about the problem of selling weapons to Azerbaijan, which had also been raised on the platform of this committee.
“We attach great importance to taking measures for the formation of the atmosphere of mutual trust. The peaceful settlement has no alternative,” the Co-Chair of the Armenian side of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee underlined in her word.
On the occasion of the pro-Armenian activities, as well as the publication of the encyclopedia titled Marzes of Armenia and Regions of Russia, the Armenian delegates handed over the RA Prime Minister’s Memorial Medal to the Armenian-Russian Inter-Parliamentary Committee Co-Chair, the RA National Hero Nykolay Ryzhkov.
At the end of the meetings, the Armenian delegation thanked their Russian colleagues for the warm reception and for holding of the 29th sitting of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee and expressed confidence that it will bring considerable promotion and will raise the level of the inter-state and inter-parliamentary relations on the way of the development of the relations in the future.
