On June 20, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Armen Ashotyan received Timur Urazayev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Armenia.

The Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations highly assessed the development dynamics of the relations between the parliaments of Armenia and Kazakhstan and expressed hope that during his tenure it will be possible to give new quality and efficiency to the existing relations.

In his turn, Ambassador Urazayev congratulated Armen Ashotyan on having an important role in the implementation of the parliamentary diplomacy and on being elected in the responsible post and expressed hope that the effective activities from both sides will promote the activation of the inter-parliamentary ties, particularly the activation of cooperation between the Friendship Groups.

During the talk the Committee Chair and Ambassador Urazayev touched upon the problems of cooperation within the frameworks of the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as the CSTO and the issues of common interest. In this context issues concerning the implementation of the economic, investment effective policy were also discussed. Both sides especially referred to the cooperation in the political sphere, which is a good basis for the implementation of more active investment policy.

The parties also discussed issues regarding the cooperation in the inter-parliamentary organizations.

Talking about the problems of regional cooperation and stability, Armen Ashotyan noted that at regional level the success of almost all projects is endangered because of Azerbaijan’s deconstructive and adventurous policy. In this context the Committee Chair touched upon the gross violations of ceasefire implemented by the Azerbaijani armed forces on the frontline between Artsakh and Azerbaijan on June 16 and 17 and stated that targeted statements regarding this issue from the OSCE Minsk Group are expected for the prevention of the new human losses and for the benefit of the regional stability.

In this context Ambassador Urazayev noted that in the 21st century we should exclude the military version of the conflict solution.

At the end of the meeting the parties also talked about the goals of the Analytical Council working group created on the initiative of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations and discussed the possibilities of cooperation.
