On August 23, the RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov received Gonzalo Urriolabeitia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Argentine Republic to the RA.

Welcoming the Ambassador, the RA NA Deputy Speaker has noted that the Friendship Groups had already been formed in the National Assembly of the sixth convocation, and he will continue to lead the Friendship Group with Argentina, which has many members.

Eduard Sharmazanov highly assessed the Ambassador’s concerned activities in the development and deepening of the Armenian-Argentinean relations. The RA NA Deputy Speaker, highlighting the role of the parliamentary diplomacy, underlined the importance of the cooperation of the friendly countries in the international structures.

Eduard Sharmazanov documented that at the beginning of the previous century giving asylum to the Armenians Argentina became their second Motherland and in future undertake decisive steps for the recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide. In the RA NA Deputy Speaker’s word, the issue of the Armenian Genocide turns into a new phase – the phase of fight against Turkish denialism.

Highly appreciating the balanced position of Argentina over Nagorno Karabakh issue, the RA NA Deputy Speaker has noted that Armenia is a peace exporting country and denies any military solution.

Highlighting the role of the mutual visits in the development of bilateral relations, Eduard Sharmazanov invited his Argentinean colleagues to Armenia.

Gonzalo Urriolabeitia thanked the NA Deputy Speaker for the reception and emphasized the role of the parliamentary cooperation in the development of the relations between the friendly countries. The Ambassador has noted that they should use all parliamentary formats for the comprehensive development of the relations. In the Ambassador’s word, the presence of the Armenian community had its influence in Argentina for the establishment of the friendship of the two countries and the deepening of the ties.

At the end of the meeting Gonzalo Urriolabeitia has noted that this year the 25^th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Argentina and Armenia is marked, and the Embassy will organize a number of events to which he invited to take part the RA NA Deputy Speaker.
