On August 31, the RA NA Deputy Speaker Mikayel Melkumyan received the delegation led by the Vice Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Republic of Indonesia Fudli Zon.

The members of the NA Armenia-Indonesia Friendship Group Arman Saghatelyan, Mihran Hakobyan, Naira Zohrabyan, Aram Sargsyan, Andranik Karapetyan and the RA Honourable Consul to Indonesia Yervand Voskanyan attended the meeting.

Welcoming the guests in Parliament, Mikayel Melkumyan highlighted the visit of the delegation to Armenia and expressed hope that the mutual visits will promote the further development of the Armenian-Indonesian relations.

Mr Melkumyan emphasized the cooperation in the spheres of tourism, trade-economy, high technologies, agriculture and expressed hope that the cooperation will enter into a new stage between the two countries.

Touching upon the NK conflict settlement, the RA NA Deputy Speaker has noted that it is a key issue for our country, and the problem should be solved within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group.

Mikayel Melkumyan emphasized the cooperation of the two countries in the international structures and noted that Armenia should defend its national state interest without touching the interests of other countries.

The RA NA Deputy Speaker also highlighted the creation of the Friendship Group with the Parliament of Armenia in the Parliament of Indonesia, which will give an opportunity to develop the parliamentary diplomacy and the mutually beneficial relations in different spheres. In this context Mikayel Melkumyan proposed to discuss the issue of establishing of the Embassy of Indonesia to Armenia.

The Vice Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Republic of Indonesia Fudli Zon expressed his gratitude for warm reception and presented the structure of the and the spheres of the activities of the parliament of Indonesia, informing that presidential and parliamentary elections will be held in parallel with each other in his country in future.

Noting that this year sees the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Armenia, and it is necessary to consider the strengthening of cooperation in different spheres.

The Vice Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Republic of Indonesia expressed hope that in the near future the visits to Armenia will increase, which will become an impetus for the development of tourism.

Fudli Zon expressed hope that the relations between the two countries, as well as the parliaments will further strengthen and develop, also emphasizing the mutually beneficial cooperation between Armenia and Indonesia in different international organizations.

During the exchange of thoughts, highlighting the visit of the Indonesian parliamentary delegation to Armenia, underlined the necessity of expanding the cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries, which in its turn will become an impetus for the further rapprochement and the development.

At the end of the meeting accompanied by the RA NA Deputy Speaker Mikayel Melkumyan the guests took a tour in the National Assembly, had been taken a photo in the RA NA Session Hall.

The members of the delegation accompanied by Mikayel Melkumyan visited the Armenian Genocide Victims' Memorial Complex and laid flowers at the monument eternalizing the memory of holy martyrs. Afterwards the guests visited the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute and got acquainted with the exhibits. Fudli Zon left a note in the Commemoration Book of the Museum.
