RA NA President Meets with Polish President Andrzej Duda

On October 18, the official visit of the delegation led by the RA NA President Ara Babloyan to the Republic of Poland began. The RA NA deputies Armen Ashotyan, Vahan Harutyunyan, Armen Rustamyan, Edmon Marukyan and Karine Poghosyan are in the delegation.

On the same day the RA NA President Ara Babloyan met with the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda.

The Head of the Armenian Parliament noted with satisfaction that during 25 years the Armenian and Polish peoples’ inter-state relations based on the centuries-old friendship had been expanded and developed: the passing years had been marked by regular political dialogue and high-ranking mutual visits between the two countries. “The visits at such level are important for the development and deepening of bilateral relations,” Ara Babloyan said.

Talking about bilateral cooperation, the RA NA President particularly has underlined that Armenia greatly highlights the role of parliamentary diplomacy by enlivening of the dialogue. According to Ara Babloyan, the expansion of the Armenian-Polish inter-parliamentary relations is an important basis for deepening of the inter-state relations. The President of the RA Parliament expressed hope that the Friendship Groups functioning in the legislative bodies would actively work during the upcoming years.

The RA NA President also touched upon the cooperation on the inter-parliamentary platforms. Ara Babloyan emphasized the development of the active cooperation within the international parliamentary different frameworks between the national delegations of Armenia and Poland.

Talking about the Nagorno Karabakh problem, the RA NA President has especially underscored that Armenia continues remaining faithful to the peaceful settlement of the conflict.

The Head of the RA Parliament has noted that Armenia-EU relations occupy an important place on the Armenian-Polish cooperation agenda, adding that Poland, as an Eastern Partnership co-author, plays an active role in the strengthening of Armenia-EU relations.

Thanking the RA NA President for his visit, the President of Poland has assured that his country has been and remains the best friend of Armenia.

Andrzej Duda attached importance to the inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries and expressed hope that those relations would more strengthen and deepen.

Referring to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the Polish President reaffirmed their balanced approach and expressed conviction that the problem should be solved exclusively through peaceful means in the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs’ format.
