Mikayel Melkumyan Receives Ambassador of China to Armenia

On December 14, the RA NA Deputy Speaker Mikayel Melkumyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Armenia Tian Erlong.

The Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on European Integration Naira Zohrabyan took part in the meeting.

Welcoming the guest in the RA NA, Mikayel Melkumyan highly assessed the character of the Armenian-Chinese relations and the development dynamics and expressed hope that the cooperation would be continuous.

Naira Zohrabyan presented to the Ambassador the recent inner-political events and processes going on in Armenia, touching upon the signing of Memorandum on Cooperation between the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) and the Communist Party of China.

Mrs Zohrabyan also referred to the upcoming joint programmes, particularly issues regarding the mutual visits of the coordinating youth structures and women’s councils.

In his word the Ambassador of China to Armenia Tian Erlong highlighted the role of the Armenian-Chinese traditional friendship in the development of the relations between the two countries. The Ambassador highly assessed the activities of Armenia-China Parliamentary Friendship Group and expressed hope that the Group would actively cooperate with the parliament of China, implementing mutually beneficial programmes of bilateral interest.

Tian Erlong has noted that the PAP is one of the most important political forces of Armenia, and the Communist Party of China is ready to continue and deepen the cooperation with the RA NA Tsarukyan Faction.

Highlighting the Silky Road Chinese mega project and the interest of Armenia towards it and the possibilities of cooperation within that format, Mikayel Melkumyan underlined the role of that project as a factor activating the economy of the region which could become a guarantee for ensuring regional stability.
