On February 8 Artur Baghdasaryan, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, received Gevorg Vardan, Armenian deputy of the parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) and Alireza Haghighian, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

During the meeting the perspectives of the development of the Armenian-Iranian parliamentary relations, which will promote the deepening of inter-state relations were discussed. The sides also highlighted the role of the parliaments on the way of seeking legislative and political solutions. Mr. Gevorg Vardan handed over to the NA President Gholamali Haddad-Adel, President of the parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the invitation of visiting IRI, his warm desire of deepening the Armenian-Iranian friendly-strategic relations. An agreement was also reached on the visit of the President of the Iranian Parliament to Armenia. During the meeting the possibility of holding bilateral parliamentary debates on the problems of energy carriers and other problems of mutual interest, as well as the issue of the participation of RA NA delegation in the international conference on the religious problems being organized in IRI was discussed.
