Address by RA National Assembly President Ara Babloyan on Remembrance Day of Armenian Genocide Victims
1 / 1

Dear compatriots,

Today, the remembrance day of the Armenian Genocide innocent victims organized and perpetrated at state level in the Ottoman Turkey. At the same time for the last more than one century after 1915 Genocide is a period of remembrance and inflexibility which shows our people, documenting that it is impossible to win us even with Genocide.

Now Armenia is among the forerunners of the struggle against genocides. We remind and warn the civilized world that crimes committed against human genofond on behalf of the Armenian Genocide, are the gravest in the series of the encroachments being implemented towards human life. More than 100 years ago maybe there was so much accumulation of evil and hatred in the world, as it is in our days, however at that time the indifference of the world resulted in millions of human victims, who were massacred or were forcibly deported from their birthplace because of national belonging, being Armenian. Today, it is required from the international community not only to be indifferent, but also to take preventive and punitive measures towards all those, in the basis of whose psychology, way of thinking and activity there is hatred towards others, in whose conscience as a state or individual, the denialism towards Armenian Genocide remains ruling. Otherwise, the genocide as a non-condemned and deniable greatest crime, as a tragedy, is continuing to find its place in today’s reality and the newest history of the world.

Dear compatriots,

Nobody is able to change the past, but we should look back, never forget the 1915 tragedy, and remember our canonized martyrs. However, we are more than sure that we should look at the present and the most important thing is, look at the future. We should look and act with resoluteness, win and become powerful, with that symbolizing the renaissance and never fading memory.

April 24 at the same time reminds us about our greatest losses and the fact how firm, unbending and vital we are. Thus, keeping always bright the memory of the Armenian Genocide victims, we should have stronger Armenia, secure Artsakh and consolidated Diaspora for reliable and bright future.
