On June 18, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Armen Ashotyan met with the delegation of the European Parliament headed by the Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs (EPP) David McAllister.
Welcoming the guests in the RA NA, Armen Ashotyan touched upon the inner-political processes, underlining the importance of the fact that crucial changes had taken place in the RA foreign political vector.
With regards to the RA-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, Armen Ashotyan highlighted the completion of the ratification process of the document until the elections of the European Parliament of 2019.
In this context the Committee Chair underlined the importance of weighty and targeted message addressed to the national parliaments by the European Parliament for avoiding the unduly delays related to the Agreement ratification.
In the course of the meeting the sides also referred to the provision of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement between the EU and Armenia which would be a new impetus for strengthening the parliamentary cooperation between the European Parliament and the RA National Assembly. Both sides emphasized the fact of having parliamentary cooperation of new level which would be directed to the expansion of the parliamentary component of cooperation between the EU and Armenia.
The two parties also talked about the regional developments. “Democracy is an important factor of stability and peace in the South Caucasus.
