Ara Babloyan Receives Members of Iran-Armenia Friendship Group of Iran Majlis

On August 31, the RA NA Speaker received the Head of Iran-Armenia Friendship Group of Majlis of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ramazanali Sobhanifar and the members of the Group.

Welcoming the guests, Ara Babloyan expressed trust that the visit would promote the further development of the Armenian-Iranian relations and especially inter-parliamentary cooperation. The Head of the RA Parliament has underlined close, good friendly relations based on the firm bases of mutual trust are formed with Iran. According to the RA NA Speaker, in deepening of inter-parliamentary cooperation the Parliamentary Friendship Groups have a special role: the bilateral contacts and mutual visits give new impetus not only to the inter-parliamentary ties, but also to the inter-state relations. In this context Ara Babloyan highlighted the results of the visit of Armenia-Iran Friendship Group to Iran in February 2018 and the reached agreements.

Both sides the development of bilateral economic relations. It has been noted that the Armenian-Iranian Inter-Governmental joint Committee has purposeful activities in this issue. The Head of the RA parliament has underscored that Armenia can be a bridge for Iran-EEC-Europe trade-economic relations.

Expressing his gratitude, the Head of Iran-Armenia Friendship Group of Majlis of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ramazanali Sobhanifar conveyed the warm greetings and wishes by the Speaker of the Iran Majlis Ali Larijani. Noting that the Armenian-Iranian centuries-old friendship is based on the historical-cultural commonalities, the Head of the Group has documented that the two countries always support each other at critical moments in different times.

In the context of the development of the inter-state relations Ramazanali Sobhanifar also especially emphasized the role and importance of parliamentary diplomacy.

In the course of the meeting the issues concerning the tendencies of the dynamic development of the cultural relations, agriculture, energy and in a number of spheres were discussed. The sides also touched upon the importance of effectively using the opportunity given by Meghri Free Economic Zone, as well as the implementation of the investment different programmes.
