On September 14, the representatives of the RA NA factions the delegation headed by the Chairman of the Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Leonid Kalashnikov.
The RA NA deputies Khosrov Harutyunyan, Gagik Melikyan and Hayk Babukhanyan discussed the issues concerning the holding of the CSTO PA Council and the CSTO PA plenary session in Yerevan in October with the Russian colleagues and touched upon the parliamentary cooperation within the framework of the CSTO.
Both sides highlighted the enlivening of the cooperation between the Friendship Groups and considered necessary the strengthening of the existing relations and the activation of the contacts. The Russian side envisages organizing bilateral meetings of the parliamentary factions for this purpose in the future.
Issues concerning the inner-political situation of Armenia, the ongoing processes and possible developments, the extraordinary elections of Yerevan Council of Elderly and parliamentary elections and the regional problems were discussed.
The member of the RA NA ARF faction Andranik Karapetyan met with the delegation headed by Leonid Kalashnikov.
The MP has underlined the friendly relations of the Armenian and Russian peoples and has emphasized the strengthening of the existing multilateral ties, for which, according to him, there is great potential.
At Leonid Kalashnikov’s request Andranik Karapetyan touched upon the possibility of holding extraordinary parliamentary elections and the inner-political situation of Armenia and presented the position of the party on the political processes.
The Russian MPs’ next meeting was with the MPs of Tsarukyan faction Tigran Urikhanyan and Luiza Sargsyan.
The Armenian MPs highlighted the development of the parliamentary cooperation within the framework of the CSTO. According to Tigran Urikhanyan, all efforts should be made to strengthen the security in the CSTO responsibility zone.
In the course of the meeting the inner-political situation of Armenia, the Mayor’s election to be held on September 23 and the possibility of holding extraordinary parliamentary elections in the future were touched upon.
Both sides discussed the implementation of the programmes of bilateral interest in different spheres.
