On February 21, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport Mkhitar Hayrapetyan being in the U.S. at the invitation of Melkonian Global Overture met with the representatives of Las Vegas Armenian community.
The RA Honorary Consul Adroushan (Andy) Armenian, Spiritual Leader of Las Vegas Saint Kirakos Armenian Apostolic Church Father Sassoon and the Director of Melkonian Global Overture Arsine Shirvanian attended the meeting and delivered speeches.
Unlike the Armenian community of Los Angeles with a big number of Armenians, despite few Armenians in the local community, the meeting was held in the sincere atmosphere: numerous questions were addressed to Mkhitar Hayrapetyan. According to many attendees, their community has been ignored to some extent, and today they gladly accept the Committee Chair of the Armenian Parliament.
Various questions were addressed to Mkhitar Hayrapetyan: they referred to the announced economic revolution, the investments, the transitional justice, the ecological problems, the sphere of education, the formation of the Office for the Commissioner on Diaspora, etc.
The Armenian community of Las Vegas has two Saturday schools, two churches and about one dozen of Pan-Armenian structures.
