On February 26, at the invitation of the Speaker of the RF Federation Council of the Federal Assembly Valentina Matviyenko the delegation of the Speaker of the RA National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan, which is in the Russian Federation, accompanied by the Acting Deputy Co-Chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee Igor Chernishenko visited the Memorial of the Unknown Soldier and paid tribute to the memory of the Great Patriotic War victims.
Within the framework of the working visit the Speaker of the National Assembly also visited the Holy Transfiguration Church of Russia and Nor Nakhichevan Diocese Seat of the Armenian Apostolic Church, took a tour in the Armenian educational centre and had a meeting with the representatives of the Armenian community.
During the meeting Ararat Mirzoyan presented the agenda of the visit to Moscow and teh authorities’ position on a number of items. The Speaker of the National Assembly underlined the special role of the Armenian community in Russia in the context of strengthening the friendship between the Armenian and Russian peoples.
The members of the NA delegation and the representatives of the community had an open and sincere discussion on a series of important public, educational and cultural issues concerning Armenia and Diaspora.
