RA NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs Convenes Regular Sitting

On February 28, the RA NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs convened a sitting. Those present honoured the memory of Sumgait tragedy innocent victims in one-minute silence.

Three draft laws envisaging amendments and addenda to the RA Criminal Code were on the agenda of the sitting.

The bill authored by the RA NA Bright Armenia Faction related to announcing pardon on criminal cases on the occasion of the 2800th anniversary of Erebuni-Yerevan establishment and the 100th anniversary of declaration of independence of the First Republic of Armenia.

The Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs Naira Zohrabyan presented similar legislative initiative.

The conclusion of the Committee and the Government on the legislative initiatives were negative.

The RA Deputy Minister of Justice Artak Asatryan also touched upon the results of the international experience study.

By the Committee Chair’s recommendation a working group would be created for debating the legislative initiatives.

The draft law on Making Addenda to the RA Criminal Code authored by the RA NA Bright Armenia Faction was postponed by 2-month term.
